Who was Most Impressive in Indy?

450 Class: Hunter Lawrence

Hunter was clutch when he needed to be. He passed Tomac back on Race 1, and then holeshot and gapped him in Race 3. It was a 1v1 against his main title competitor and he came out on top. He keeps getting better every weekend… super impressive.

Hunter’s poise is also noteworthy: he’s calm, collected, and confident. They still don’t have the bike where they want it to be, but yet he shows up, puts down solid laps, and extends his points lead. Once they figure out the bike, he’ll be scary!

Hunter said:

“We keep the red plate—that’s what I wanted to do this weekend! Last weekend, I was frustrated with my result and what I felt could’ve been. The team knuckled down this week and got a lot of work in, so it’s cool to see that pay off. Any win is difficult, but this was a Triple Crown—there’s three times the risk. I had my own scenario in the second race, where Cole Thompson and Vince Friese were racing each other and I was in the middle—I ended up sending Cole off the back of the berm; I don’t know how I stayed on my bike, honestly, I just got lucky because there was some carnage out there! Me and the team, we work hard! I’m blessed to have amazing people around me, and I can’t ask for much more.”

250 Class: Devin Simonson

How casual fans even knew this guy? We’re pretty sure Jo Shimoda didn’t… in the post-race media scrum Shimoda said there was “some Yamaha guy” in front of him.

Two years ago, Simonson was a full privateer struggling to make mains. In the summer of 2024 for his first race attempt with Club, he didn’t even qualify into the 40-racer field at his first national. Yikes. Now? Simonson is leading laps in front of his hometown crowd. What a remarkable story; it’s great to see success for him and another Club rider rising to the occasion.

Not only was he leading for a bit, but he also was running the pace; he managed to hold off Shimoda for a good part of the race. He ended up bettering his teammate Schock in the overall; super impressive indeed!
