Round 16 of the 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship was this past weekend at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, CO. Here is our breakdown of the final results.

450

1 #4 Chase Sexton It took Sexton 4 laps to get into the lead after starting 3rd. He had a somewhat aggressive pass over Webb for the lead, and later explained the cause of it to be anger over Webb cross jumping him at the beginning of the race. Sexton was by far the fastest guy tonight, but unfortunately, he's still pretty far back in the points. He's gonna need some luck in SLC to win this title.
2 #2 Cooper Webb Webb looked a little bit off during the main. He was sick earlier in the week, and didn't seem his normal self. However, he still had a clutch ride holding on for a 2nd place despite Stewart pressuring him the whole race. It could have been a big loss of points if Stewart got around.
3 #32 Justin Cooper Cooper had an awesome ride and was the second fastest guy tonight. He had a so-so start back in 9th, but gradually made his way forward passing Stewart with a few laps left and staying right behind his teammate Webb. We asked him about it in the post-race press conference, and no: he would not have passed Webb given how valuable these points are to Webb's championship fight.
4 #27 Malcolm Stewart Stewart looked great all day: another heat race win, and a good start in the main. He stayed right on Webb the entire time, but unfortunately couldn't get close enough to make a pass. It bit him in the end, because Cooper was able to get around.
5 #7 Aaron Plessinger Plessinger was a bit off the pace tonight. He started in the top 5 and stayed there for the entire race, but could never quite reel in the guys in front of him. He also got passed by Cooper around the halfway mark.
6 #12 Shane McElrath This has to be one of McElrath's best dry races right? He started near the front, looked aggressive, and stayed right behind Plessinger for most of the race. He should be pumped on this result!
7 #14 Dylan Ferrandis Ferrandis started in 7th and stayed there. I think he'll be a little bit disappointed that he didn't have the pace of McElrath in front of him and that at the end Savatgy was catching him as well. It has been a better couple of weeks for Ferrandis at least though!
8 #17 Joey Savatgy Savagty started in 13th and was battling with a group of guys before finally moving ahead and putting down some fast laps. He caught up to Ferrandis at the end but couldn't quite make the move.
9 #49 Mitchell Oldenburg Oldenburg started in the top 10 and, unlike last weekend, was able to keep the pace and finish in 9th for a career best in the 450 class (his first top 10)! It was good to hold off Wilson.
10 #15 Dean Wilson Wilson started in 12th and made a couple passes on Craig and Nichols to move into the top 10 for a third consecutive weekend. He was right on Oldenburg but couldn't make the pass. Regardless, he continues to be impressive for a guy that entered the series with just a few rounds left. His whoop speed is great!
11 #28 Christian Craig This is the best version of Craig we've seen all season. He was fast in qualifying and had a good heat race, but unfortunately couldn't quite carry that pace over into the main event. He got passed by Wilson but then settled into this 11th place finish.
12 #46 Justin Hill He started in 15th, made a couple passes at the beginning, and looked to be catching Craig before ultimately losing the pace and settling for this 12th. It's been a disappointing several weekends since an amazing start to the season for him (he was straight up beating guys like Plessinger to the start year!).
13 #57 Benny Bloss Bloss had a great start in the top five but was nowhere close to the pace. He pretty quickly dropped all the way back to this spot. I think he should be disappointed with that, but he mentioned last weekend that he's still recovering from a rib injury suffered in East Rutherford, so maybe at this point he's checked out and simply wants to get the season finished.
14 #45 Colt Nichols Nichols started in 11th but got passed by Savatgy, Wilson, and Hill. He's slowly improving every weekend (emphasis on slowly), but these finishes are still pretty underwhelming.
15 #33 Fredrik Noren Noren started in 16th, passed Chisholm, and then had a pretty uneventful race from that point forward.
16 #11 Kyle Chisholm Chisholm started in 14th and got passed by a couple guys (including Noren). It's his third 16th in a row, so I guess this is where he belongs! He raced the PulpMX Privateer Challenge on Friday and donated all his winnings to Jerry Robin so that was cool.
17 #146 Kevin Moranz Moranz started in 17th and stayed there the whole race. By the end of the race, he was 20 seconds behind Chisholm and had a 10 second lead over the guys behind him so he was basically riding around by himself.
18 #78 Cade Clason Clason was better this weekend than last weekend. He started in 19th and made a pass on Lane to get up to 18th. I think he's faster than this though...
19 #711 Tristan Lane Lane had the inverse race of Clason: he started in 18th and got passed by Clason to finish 19th. Congrats on another main event at least!
20 #68 Jeremy Hand Hand looks relatively decent all day, but when it comes to main event time, he gets bad starts and rides around near the back of the field. I'd like to see more out of him.
21 #122 Justin Starling Starling looked decent in the first few laps, but quickly lost the pace and got passed by Hand. It's his first main event since Foxborough though so that's an improvement!
22 #468 Michael Hicks Hicks pretty quickly dropped to dead last and didn't have any fast lap times. However, it's his first 450 main event so congrats to that!

250

1 #38 Haiden Deegan Deegan started 3rd and looked to content there. But eventually he caught up and passed Mosiman for 2nd, and then it was game on. We all saw what happened next: an aggressive pass on his teammate Davies for the win which took Davies down and resulted in Deegan clinching the championship. Deegan's last half of the race was strong, and no doubt he's the deserving champ in this class.
2 #23 Julien Beaumer Beaumer started 6th and slowly worked his way forward (with help from crashes by Mosiman and Davies). He was battling with Marchbanks for most of the race. Beaumer was happy with his riding afterwards... big improvements from the previous few rounds. It also happened to be the first dry/hard-packed track these guys have had in a while... I don't think that's coincidence: he's better in these conditions.
3 #36 Garrett Marchbanks Marchbanks started right behind Beaumer and they came through the pack together / were battling the entire race. It's his second podium of the season. Overall, pretty good year for him considering the shoulder injury pre-A2. He's getting better with every round it seems.
4 #19 Jordon Smith Smith started in 10th and passed a few guys to get behind Marchbanks. He was pretty close to the Marchbanks/Beaumer battle for a while, but lost the pace a bit at the end. I think he's probably still feeling the effects from his Arlington crash.
5 #100 Cole Davies It could have / should have been another win for Davies. He started up front and put down a decent gap, but between lappers, a drop in pace, and an increase in pace from Deegan, he lost that gap and eventually was forced off the track. He handled it like a champ, putting most of the blame on himself for being in that position. Regardless, the kid is fast and will be a championship contender next year. These are all just learning opportunities.
6 #37 Coty Schock Schock started in 5th but simply didn't have the pace to stay up there. The highlight of his race was passing Shimoda, so he'll be happy with that at least. But I also think he'll be disappointed that he couldn't hang onto a top 5.
7 #93 Michael Mosiman Mosiman was riding well in the first 5 minutes or so, but lost the tow from Davies, got passed by Deegan, and then crashed. He'll be disappointed with the result, but the riding was good!
8 #98 Drew Adams Adams made a few moves (including passing Shimoda) to work his way up to this spot, matching his 8th place finish in his first-and-only prior race (which was at A2). He broke his back in his Glendale crash but didn't realize that until he got back on the bike a few weeks after. Luckily he's all healed up and wanted to get the extra racing experience in before the start of Pro Motocross.
9 #30 Jo Shimoda Not sure what was wrong with Shimoda... he won here last year. This year? He started right behind Deegan in 4th, but was wayyy off the pace and dropped all the way back to this spot. Not good.
10 #166 Enzo Lopes Lopes had bike problems before the gate drop and just barely made it back on the gate in time. From there it was pretty uneventful: started in 14th, made a few passes, and then rode by himself for the majority of the race. A top 10 is good though and something to be happy about.
11 #61 Cole Thompson Thompson started in 16th, stayed there for the first half, but then made several passes whilst getting lapped. So he took advantage of that to work his way up to this spot, but regardless it was a decent finish.
12 #101 Dylan Walsh Walsh started in 12th and then stayed there for most of the race. He was involved in a pretty big battle with quite a few guys whilst the leaders were getting around, but by the end of the main he was riding around by himself. This matches his season best from Arlington; he's been looking better as of late.
13 #134 Avery Long Long started in 9th, but then dropped back a few positions to start the race. He was looking better for a while, but ultimately couldn't hang onto the pace set by Thompson and Walsh in front of them. It's been a decent rookie year though, minus the concussion in SD.
14 #115 Gavin Towers Tower started in 19th and it dropped back to 20th before slowly making his way back up. So I guess this is a decent ride? Just like Long, it's been a decent rookie year for him.
15 #64 Robbie Wageman Wageman started in 7th (a great start) but didn't have the pace at all and dropped way back. This is his first race of the year though after healing up from an injury, so all in all a decent return to action.
16 #302 Parker Ross Ross had an off day. He crashed multiple times in qualifying, and then barely made the main event. So by the time he got into the main expectations were already low. He started in 20th and made his way forward a little, but simply did not look great all day.
17 #63 Hunter Yoder Yoder started in 17th, but then moved his way up to 11th before crashing and dropping him back to this spot. Once again he was fast, but he needs to stay on two wheels.
18 #334 Brad West West didn't have the pace. He started in 21st and moved forward a bit.
19 #58 Derek Kelley Kelley was in 13th to begin, but then crashed on the 2nd lap and was way back in dead last. It has been a year that he probably wants to forget.
20 #65 Lux Turner Turner had a pretty bad crash in the second qualifying session so was lucky to just be OK after that. He was riding decently around 15th in the main event before the pain from the earlier crash set in and he dropped the pace (and with that, several positions).
21 #775 CJ Benard It's Benard's first main event! Congrats on making it into the main. From there, he started near the end and rode around near the back of the field, but he'll be better for next year. He was smooth and fast all day leading up to the main.
22 #85 Max Sanford Sanford started in 15th but didn't have the speed to match any of these guys and dropped to last. Disappointing considering not a bad start.
