1 | #4 | Chase Sexton | Sexton got tangled up with his teammate Plessinger off the start, but he kept it on two wheels and quickly passed his way forward (including a pass on Cooper Webb). He set the fastest lap while reeling in Roczen, made the move, and then built a comfortable gap for the lead. It was a clutch race for Sexton... he can't afford any more losses. |
2 | #2 | Cooper Webb | Webb got a so-so start, was passed by Sexton, but then kept right on Sexton for the first half of the race as they passed through the pack together. However, Webb started losing ground in the second half of the race... just wasn't able to match Sexton's pace out front. He still did exactly what he needed with a 2nd place finish. |
3 | #94 | Ken Roczen | Roczen got off to an early lead in the opening laps and built a decent gap. However, his injuries caught up with him and he dropped the pace around the halfway mark. By the end of the race he still had a large gap over 4th, so this podium marks a good comeback for Kenny. |
4 | #27 | Malcolm Stewart | Stewart was up in 2nd at one point, but ultimately ceded those spots to Sexton and Webb. I think he would have liked to catch Roczen for the podium, but he dropped his pace in the second half of the race and could never make up any ground. |
5 | #17 | Joey Savatgy | Savatgy finally got a good start! He rounded the first lap in 2nd but was passed by Stewart, Sexton, and Webb in the first few minutes of the race. However, he held his ground and actually made up some time on Stewart towards the end of the race. It was a really good ride for Savatgy, and it's his first top 5 in SX since 2019! |
6 | #32 | Justin Cooper | Cooper got caught up in the first turn and was wayyy back. He put down some good lap times and had a really impressive second half of the race to pass quite a few guys and almost catch up to the top 5. The 6th will be a disappointing result, but his riding was quite good. |
7 | #14 | Dylan Ferrandis | Ferrandis looked decent all day. He started in 13th and passed his was up all the way to 6th at one point. He wasn't that far off the top 5, but started to slow down a bit towards the end and gave up the spot to Cooper. |
8 | #7 | Aaron Plessinger | Plessinger fell in the first turn and that ruined his night. He had a good ride to pass quite a few guys and come back to 8th, but after winning his heat he should have had at least another podium. |
9 | #57 | Benny Bloss | Bloss had a good start in 6th, but struggled to put down good laps in the first half of the race and dropped back to 10th. However, around the half-way mark he found some pace and re-passed Cooper, Hill, and his teammate Oldenburg. Unfortunately that pace was short-lived and Cooper got him back (along with Plessinger), but the mid-race sprint was impressive! |
10 | #46 | Justin Hill | Hill was battling forward after a top 10 start and had moved up to 6th early on, but started dropping gave most of those spots back. After an impressive start to the season, it's been pretty silent the past month or so from Hill; nothing great recently. |
11 | #49 | Mitchell Oldenburg | Oldenburg started in 11th, but was super fast for the first several laps and passed quite a bit of guys to work his way up to 6th. However, something must have happened in the latter half of the race (maybe got tired) because his pace dropped significantly and a lot of those guys passed him back. It was weird to see... definitely thought he had those guys (i.e. Bloss, Hill) beat. |
12 | #12 | Shane McElrath | McElrath unfortunately crashed at the beginning and was almost last, but had a good steady ride to come back to 12th. It's disappointing after his career-best last weekend, but considering the crash, a 12th is decent. |
13 | #45 | Colt Nichols | Nichols passed a few guys (Harlan, Noren, Craig, and Wilson), but once again was off the pace (his best lap was 0.5 seconds slower than everyone in front of him). This ride is a step in the right direction, but he simply needs to be faster. |
14 | #51 | Justin Barcia | Barcia led for a bit on the first lap but then went over the berm and crashed. He was pretty slow after that... he actually got up in front of McElrath, but McElrath passed him and pulled away. Maybe Barcia's bike was bent up? It wasn't a good ride. |
15 | #28 | Christian Craig | Craig started in 15th and ended there... he passed Harlan, Harrison, Noren, and Wilson, but also got passed by McElrath, Barcia, Nichols, and Plessinger; another disappointing result for him. |
16 | #86 | Mitchell Harrison | Harrison looked great at the beginning in 3rd, but pretty quickly dropped back. He stayed just ahead of Wilson for most of the race. |
17 | #15 | Dean Wilson | Wilson's first SX of the year! He looked good inside the top 10 in the beginning, but the arm pump hit him quickly and he could hold on... he was just trying to survive for most of the race. He'll get better; good to have him back! |
18 | #11 | Kyle Chisholm | Chisholm was wayyyy off the pace and just kinda rode around by himself the whole time, although he did pass Harlan and Moranz. He got lapped twice. |
19 | #146 | Kevin Moranz | Moranz struggled out there... got passed by Chisholm and was much slower than most other guys. But at least he passed a badly fading Harlan! |
20 | #43 | Grant Harlan | Harlan started in 9th but wasn't even close to matching the pace of those guys and quickly dropped. His lap times were super slow (he had the worst fastest lap). Considering his start, he should have at least beaten Chisholm and Moranz. |
21 | #33 | Fredrik Noren | Noren was in 18th after starting in the top 10 but then crashed back to last. At that point he was too far back to do anything, but he did pass Jeremy Hand. |
22 | #68 | Jeremy Hand | Hand started in last and that was that. |
1 | #100 | Cole Davies | Davies started in 5th, and then passed Schock, Deegan, Hammaker, and Hampshire all within the first 5 laps of the race to move into the lead. He put down the fastest lap time on the way, and at one point pulled a 5-second lead over Deegan. Incredible impressive! If it weren't for a couple bad rounds, Davies could legitimately be a title contender (he's still within fighting distance if Deegan makes any bad mistakes). |
2 | #38 | Haiden Deegan | It took Deegan about 5 minutes to find his flow and get going; he started 3rd but was kinda stuck behind Hampshire and Hammaker. Once he got going though, he passed them both with relative ease. Unfortunately for him, his teammate Davies had already gotten around, and by the time Deegan really started feel comfortable Davies had too large of a lead. I think he was kinda managing the points situation and feels okay with letting Davies win for now... but he still should be slightly frustrated that his younger teammate got the best of him like that. |
3 | #24 | RJ Hampshire | The restart saved Hampshire! After crashing on the original start, he rebounded with the red flag restart and got off to an early lead. He didn't quite have the pace to match the two 250W riders in front, but he started jumping the quad halfway through and was able to stay ahead of Hammaker and Vialle (his two title rivals). Overall, great night for him for points; he's tied for the points lead now! |
4 | #56 | Seth Hammaker | Hammaker kinda got screwed by the restart (he was leading way ahead of Vialle and Hampshire), but still got off to a good start the second time around. However, he kept making small mistakes (especially in the whoops) and couldn't put it together in order to pass Hampshire. It'll be disappointing for him, but at least he still has the points lead! |
5 | #30 | Jo Shimoda | Shimoda was sneaky fast tonight: he got the second best lap time! He started in 8th and was battling with his teammate Hymas for a while. Once he got around, he quickly reeled in Vialle and kept right on him until eventually making the pass towards the end. It was a good ride for Jo. |
6 | #1 | Tom Vialle | Vialle started in 6th and looked to be closing in on Deegan ahead of him for a while, but made some mistakes and lost ground. Later on, he looked to be closing in on his title rivals (Hampshire and Hammaker), but then made a few more mistakes and could never close the gap back. He eventually got passed by Shimoda too.... not good for points. Vialle should be disappointed with that race. |
7 | #36 | Garrett Marchbanks | Marchbanks had a pretty uneventful race... he started just inside the top 10 and didn't move forward much. He looked good in qualifying but couldn't find that same pace in the Main. |
8 | #92 | Maximus Vohland | Vohland passed Parks, Lopes, Hymas, and his teammate Schock to get up to this spot. Nothing flashy but a good ride nonetheless. He needs to get better starts! |
9 | #19 | Jordon Smith | Smith didn't have a great start back in 14th, but passed his way forward into this top 10. Considering how awful his last race in Seattle was, an unremarkable race tonight is not so bad. |
10 | #10 | Chance Hymas | Hymas was in 7th battling with his teammate Shimoda, but after getting passed he crashed or made a big mistake (only lost ~5 seconds) and then never regrouped. His lap times were pretty slow after that and he got passed by a couple more guys. Not a great way to back-up his win last weekend in Foxborough. |
11 | #37 | Coty Schock | Schock had a great start in 4th, but quickly got passed and eventually dropped all the way back to this spot. I think he will be bummed with it... definitely didn't want to get passed by his teammate Vohland at the very least. |
12 | #23 | Julien Beaumer | Beaumer had some bad luck off the restart and found himself back in 18th rounding the first lap. It was a decent comeback ride but he needed better. After a great start to the season, Beaumer is not looking so well these past few rounds. He just hasn't been able to show his speed. |
13 | #166 | Enzo Lopes | Top 10ish start, got passed by a few guys, but had some consistent lap times and ended up finishing. Good ride for Lopes! He needs just keep building after so much time not racing. |
14 | #41 | Nate Thrasher | Thrasher crashed and was back in 21st to start the race. He slowly worked his way back up, passing Cullin Park on the last lap. His lap times weren't great though... needed more speed. Not a good night for him. |
15 | #59 | Cullin Park | Park was simply off the pace tonight. He started in 10th but dropped back and didn't have the speed to contend. |
16 | #83 | Austin Forkner | Forkner was in 13th but then crashed back to 20th. He got his fastest lap after crashing whilst coming through the pack so that's decent? Regardless, his bad season continues. We all wanted him to just get through the season healthy, but this has been hard to watch. |
17 | #55 | Henry Miller | Miller was basically the slowest guy out there and was pretty far back. Everyone behind him crashed and was wayyy behind, so this was essentially a last place ride. |
18 | #93 | Michael Mosiman | Mosiman wasn't doing anything special in 16th, and then about halfway through he crashed back to 18th. He was about 30 seconds back from anyone else at that points and just rolled around to finish the race out. Very bad day/night for Mosiman. |
19 | #63 | Hunter Yoder | Yoder had a bit of an off-night... never showed any speed. He was towards the back and then crashed back to last (out of the remaining circulating riders). He's better than this! |
20 | #115 | Gavin Towers | Towers actually showed some speed, but unfortunately got a bad start and then crashed twice. He DNFed but I think he's okay... honestly for him to just make these showdowns is impressive in my opinion; he beat a lot of good guys in the LCQ. |
21 | #87 | Hardy Munoz | Munoz was pumped to just make it in the main. He had a crazy day full of crashes, and unfortunately a final crash in the opening laps of the main caused him to DNF. He seemed to be favoring his arm... let's hope it's not serious. |
22 | #34 | Daxton Bennick | Damn hate to see Bennick crash out with an apparent head-injury. Hope he's okay. |
