The opening round of the 2017 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship is here! Qualifying is already done in Hangtown, and it’s no surprise to see Eli Tomac and Zach Osborne come out on top.

Here are the qualifying results:

250:

M2QCOVR

450:

M1QCOVR

My Opinion: Well, things are kinda starting off where they left in SX. Tomac looks super fast and is no doubt the favorite, but behind are Jason Anderson and Marvin Musquin. With Dungey gone, these are the top 3 that we would have expected at the end of the SX season as well.

Speaking of Dungey gone, man, it’s just not the same without him out there! He will be missed, but it leaves room for a new champion. Considering the both Roczen (the defending champ), and Dungey are not racing, we will have a first-time champion this summer in the 450 class.

In the 250s, Zach Osborne also started off exactly where he finished in the SX season: on top. Osborne is flying right now. I’m not super surprised to see Ferrandis a close 2nd; he was fast in SX, and he has much more experience outdoors. He’s going to be a podium threat!

My picks for the podiums are:

250:

  1. Zach Osborne
  2. Joey Savatgy
  3. Jeremy Martin

450:

  1. Eli Tomac
  2. Marvin Musquin
  3. Jason Anderson
