GEICO Honda announced today that Jeremy Martin will not race in Oakland due to his concussion suffered in practice at Phoenix last weekend. Check out the crash here:

It’s been a VERY rough start to the 2017 season for Jeremy Martin. After making the switch to GEICO Honda for 2017, fans and industry folk alike were eager to see how Martin could adapt to the new bike. However, he’s never really been able to demonstrate his ability on it, as poor starts in the opening rounds caused mediocre results, and then this crash happened. There’s no word yet on when Martin is expected back.

My Opinion: NOOOOO! This season was supposed to be the season to shine for Martin. He has never really gotten his act together for supercross, which is a shame because I strongly believe he has the speed to win a title indoors. The move to Honda was supposed to be refreshing restart for Martin after a disappointing 2016, but 2017 so far is starting out a lot worse for him. I truly hope he can get it together such that when he returns he can get at least one win this season. Honestly though, he’s probably already wishing that the outdoor series is here…

Also, sucks that this crash was totally not his fault… accidents like this happen WAY too much in our beloved sport.

Heal up soon!
